Benefits of Omega 3 Oil

Interested in the benefits of omega 3 oil? You’re not the only one.

Actually, scientists from Finland started investigating the benefits of omega 3 oil more than 30 years ago with the Greenland Eskimos. At that time, the researchers were trying to establish a link between the Eskimo’s diet of fatty fish and their very low incidence of heart disease.

Since then, thousands of scientific studies and research projects have been done on omega 3 fatty acids from fish oil. Dr. William Connor or the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon sums up all those years of research by saying, “There is little doubt that omega 3 fatty acids are important to human nutrition.”

How important? Well that decision is up to you and the quality of life you want to have.

The importance of getting omega 3 oil in your daily diet starts with conception and continues throughout our entire lifetime.

The main components of omega 3 fish oil are EPA and DHA, which are found in fatty fish like salmon, tuna, sardines and herring.  And, you just can’t get them from flax or flaxseed oil.

Actually, your body is capable of converting the omega 3 fatty acid ALA which is found in flaxseed into the EPA and DHA that your body needs, but the conversion process is very difficult. The latest studies have shown that only 0.5% of the ALA from flax is converted to EPA and DHA. This very small amount is not enough to give your body what it needs.

Now you know that in order to get the benefits of omega 3 oil, you need to be supplementing your diet with a pure omega 3 fish oil supplement.

Remember, the only way to be sure you’re getting all of the benefits of omega 3 supplements, you need to get optimum amounts of EPA and DHA in your diet every day.
