Natural Remedies for Acne Scars
The search for natural methods to combat acne scars and other marks left by acne has become popular. Fortunately, there are several home remedies that have proven effective in reducing acne scars.
The silver lining behind home remedies for acne blemishes is the low cost because most of the ingredients are readily available in your home. There are two downsides to natural home remedies, though: the effects may take longer to notice and they might vary greatly from one person to the next. Patience and consistency are key factors when you choose to try out natural remedies for acne scar removal.
How to Remove Scars with Natural Remedies
Before using any acne scars treatment, wash the area with plenty of warm water and always test out the product on a small area of skin to make sure that it does not produce irritation or an allergic reaction. If you have sensitive skin, you can always dilute any natural remedy with a small amount of water for a gentler solution.
Garlic
Because garlic has so many health benefits, it is considered a wonder food. It has been used for many ailments including the treatment of acne scars. Nevertheless, if you choose to use garlic, take care to rinse the product off immediately if you feel any burning sensation.
For this natural remedy, grate a clove of garlic and add two tablespoons of water to form a paste. Massage the paste directly to the effected area. The garlic exfoliates the skin and removes a layer of scar tissue, so don't let it set for more than 5 minutes.
Because of the garlic's irritating properties, always apply aloe vera directly to the affected area right after you have rinsed off the paste. Aloe vera will rehydrate your skin and protect it without causing further irritation.
Honey and Coconut Oil
Honey and coconut oil are other possible home remedies for acne scars.
The bacteria that cause acne can be combated with honey. Apply it to your skin several times a day, and it will give your skin a natural glow while removing your scars. Keep it on for ten minutes and then rinse off.
Coconut oil can also help lighten old scars. All you need to do is massage the affected area with coconut oil to reap its full benefits.
Lemons
The bleaching properties of lemons will also help lighten scars. Meanwhile its high citric acid content will help clean and rejuvenate your skin.
Simply use one tablespoon of juice and apply it directly to the scar with a cotton ball. Allow it to set for ten minutes and then rinse it off. Be sure to apply sunscreen if you choose to use this home remedy, because lemon juice makes your skin more sensitive to sun damage.
It is always best to use fresh natural products. The canned versions can contain additives that might produce side effects and reduce the full effect of the natural components.
Fortunately, natural home remedies are a good, inexpensive way to deal with acne and the scars it produces. Be aware, however, that any acne scar treatment will have varying results. Be patient and you will see how these and other home remedies assist in your skin repair.
